Back in early 2013, we told you all aboutRedskins fan Emanuel Vega and his girlfriend Marissa Pena. At the time, Pena was pregnant with the couple's first child, and she had just lost a bet to Vega. Pena—a diehard Cowboys fan—had been pushing to name the child "Austin Miles Vega." But after she lost a bet involving a Redskins/Cowboys game, we told you about how she was going to be forced to live with naming her son "Robert Griffin Vega." It was tragic for her.

As it turns out, though, it kind of turned out to be tragic for both her and Vega. Because while Robert Griffin III was playing like a star quarterback back then, he's been a bust for the Redskins in recent seasons. There's even talk of the team releasing RGIII as early as today, now that Kirk Cousins has taken over the starting quarterback role. However, despite all of this, Vega claims that he doesn't regret naming his son after RGIII. The Washington Post caught up with him yesterday, and he revealed why he's still glad he chose the name that he did.

"He's just a time capsule of the greatest moment of my life," he said while speaking about his son. "It meant a lot to me, 2012, that season. To make sure he had the name, that was a big deal for me. For all this to go down the way it went down, it's just kind of hard to watch."

"I don't regret [the name] at all," Vega continued. "I really respect [RGIII] a lot. I mean, I don't know a lot about him personally; all I know is what I read and what I see. I don't know, I guess I'm biased. I'm an RGIII guy. A lot of people say he's full of himself or he's an egomaniac, but I don't see it. I think he knows what he wants; he just wants to be the best quarterback he can, and you can't blame him. I would just tell him you did everything right and just don't ever stop."

Awww…that's nice. We're glad to hear that Vega doesn't regret doing what he did. But we do need to point out that Vega and Pena named their second son "Randy Daniel Vega" after WWE superstars Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan, two athletes who won't ever let them down like RGIII has. So maybe they learned their lesson after their first name didn't work out?
