With the release of several new tracks this year—"F Q-C #7" to the sense-assaulting "Wit A Indigo"—Willow Smith has slowly been showing us a grander picture of who exactly she is. Today, the recent i-D cover star unleashed her latest video "dreamt up by Willow and shot by i-D."

Willow tackles family conflict and the subsequent growing pains through a narrative written by the singer herself that co-stars her older brother Trey and two characters portraying her parents. As conflict arises over a throbbing, synthetic beat, Willow belts and begs "Why don't you cry?" before unleashing in a thrash of dance moves and tears. It's only when she lets herself cry that she's finally able to grow into her better self.

"If it wasn't for my parents, I wouldn't have learned that becoming still and traveling within is the only thing that really matters," Willow told i-D. "You can try and point the finger at everybody else as much as you want, but the only reason you're feeling the way you're feeling about something that somebody else is doing is because of the way that you're perceiving it, and that has everything to do with your conditioning and the way you've been raised." Watch the video for "Why Don't You Cry" above.
