Now that the movies seem to have gotten all the mileage they can get out of the Taken franchise, NBC is making a TV show about the badass old guy with a very particular set of skills (that all involve being a badass).

Except he's not old this time, or a dad, because it's a prequel. Except, it's a prequel that takes place in present day. Yeah, um, don't think about it too hard, just enjoy the news that soon you'll be able to watch a a dude punching and shooting European bad guys and making cool threats via cell phone on TV.

Deadline broke the news that NBC has picked up the straight-to-series show (that means they're skipping the pilot and going all-in on this thing).

Luc Besson, who created the franchise and wrote all three Taken films, which have grossed more than $900 million, will serve as executive producer on the series.

There's no word yet on who might star as the younger version of Liam Neeson's Bryan Mills character, or whether Neeson might be involved in some way, although we do hear that he's open to making Taken 4
