It's Adele's world, and we're all just living in it at this point. Not only is her new single, "Hello," expected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart next week, but the new sales projections for her 25 album are absolutely insane. According to Billboard, the album is a lock to sell over one million copies in the first week, and could possibly become the biggest debut for a female artist in history.
The current projections for 25 sit right between 1.3 and 1.8 million, which would put her over Britney Spears' mark of 1.32 million that she set in 2000 with Oops!.... I Did it Again. If the projections hold up, 25 would be the first album of 2015 to sell over a million in the first week, and the first to do so since Taylor Swift's 1989 sold 1.29 million last year. The report mentions that if everything goes well and with added streaming numbers, the album could possibly approach the two million mark in the first week.
Could Adele actually come close to N*Sync's record of 2.4 million copies sold in one week? Guess we'll have to wait and find out. 25 officially drops on Nov. 20, but is available to pre-order on iTunes now.
